  • Hi Fae-

There's no need to uninstall the earlier versions. In fact, you may want to leave some them installed simply because they have options not available in v2018. For instance, the Nero Blu-ray Player and the ability to decode HD audio, such as DTS, was discontinued starting with v2016. V10 was the last one to the let you add subtitles. There are others things but I don't know what you do with Nero or the options you want.

If you have either v7, v8 or v9 installed, don't uninstall them from Control Panel. Use the Nero General Clean Tool.

  • I have a related question, WHEN should I uninstall the old version, before or after I install the new one? I want to move Nero 12 to my laptop when I install 2018 and am wondering, will the 2018 install pick up the Nero settings if 12 is still installed? Or will the uninstall process of n2 mess up 2018 if I uninstall afterwords?
    Thanks.
    • First, you should uninstall v12 before you reinstall it on the second system to avoid having to get its patents reactivated.

You can uninstall v12 before or after installing v2018. Note that when you install v2018, it will overwrite the Nero MediaHome and the CoverDesigner apps in v12. You will have to run Nero MediaHome from v2018. In addition, if you install the free WaveEditor and SoundTrax apps, they will overwrite the v12 apps.

I don't think v2018 will pick up any v12 settings when you install it.
