Shuffling music files for transfer to flash drive: Currently my car system will play music files from the usb drive but only in alpha order
Shuffling music files for transfer to flash drive: Currently my car system will play music files from the usb drive but only in artist order. is there anything in NERO that allows one to shuffle the file sequence before copying to usb drive?

Hi Ed-
The way to do that is to manually add a numerical sequence or alphabetical characters (or a combination of numbers and characters) to the the start of each file name which Windows sorts correctly. -

Thank you for the reply Wither 1.
I'd thought of that but I have over 3000 music files on just one of the usb drives. This would be a significant amount of time not to mention the return of carpel tunnel. I have 3 drives I'm using in the car that in total have approx. 5000 titles.
Any suggestions on a way to automate randomizing numbers or tracks out there?
Does anyone know of any software to do this as I can't be the only one out there running into this problem with car USB connector systems.
Cheers.-
I think it would be fairly easy to write a batch file to rename the files with sequential numbers. I think that Omega Tester posted one just for this problem. However, if you want random numbers and you don't want any of them to be the same, that would be a little more difficult. Haven't done that kind of thing since the 70's when us commoners used BASIC. In fact, I was going to reach for my GW BASIC manual but it's disappeared. Sat here on my computer desk for 25 years and it's gone.

Ed, are you sure your car player system cannot be set to "shuffle" the playlist?

I was hoping he could burn a mixed-mode CD to the image recorder and then burn it to his stick. In the audio section, you can right click on a file and opt not to sort. Can't do that in the Data section. However, I tried burning an actual CD that way yesterday and, although it didn't sort by name, it wouldn't play the audio section. Maybe I should have used CD-Extra, because it seems to me I had tried it that way and it worked. Kind of strange because both types of discs are identical except in the way they're burned.
Maybe you've had some experience with it that you can pass on. -

Wither 1,
Do you remember Ed telling you, "but I have over 3000 music files on just one of the usb drives"? -

I have what you show on your pics. I was surprised it didn't go to the next reasonable step of shuffle. I'll keep looking and if I find a solution I'll post it here for you. Thanks for the advice - and the distant reminder of my college days with punch card programming. If any comes up, please post.

Ed,
The manual seems to say that "random" is "shuffle"? -

Maybe it makes sense to check the car system for malware. The problem that you’ve described is common for drivers. I’ve been using https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... app for diagnostics and have no troubles with plugin. Customer service is also nice.
