Squares showing on DVD playback...
I have Nero 15 Platinum. Just burnt a DVD with four MP4 files of TV shows. The DVD plays back fine but the picture keeps going to distortion and the picture has squares coming and going as the show plays. Any idea why this is happening, I even cut burning speed but did not help, THANK YOU.

Hi John-
Are you changing any of the Recording Format Options? If not, I suggest trying another burn with Smart Encoding disabled.
There is another recent long thread concerning pixilation (but not distortion) when burning TV shows but I don't think it would be useful.-

I remember having this fault with an earlier version of Nero which was later sorted out. I'll do what I did before, use Aimersoft Video Converter to convert from MP4 to something else. Thank you for your time.

Wither 1,
The interesting thing to me is that even though you participated in the demonstration of the SmartEncoding bug, you seem incapable of stating that there is a bug. -

Go figure. It seems that Nero does no get along with MP4 files.

Did you try what I suggested?
You could try recoding it in Recode to see if some of the flaws are removed.
Some people are using old TV programs which were low resolution and somebody tried to increase the resolution, resulting in those kinds of problems. Just depends on the source. Of course, maybe you're files aren't that old. -

No, all high resolution files. I'll try turning off Smart Encoding, when told how and then try the converted .mkv files.

Open Nero Video and select options. Select the Recording Format Options. In the General tab, disable Smart Encoding. Then select the type of project you want to burn, import your files and proceed as you did before to burn them.

Thank you very much, I'll try that. Really pisses me off that Nero didn't fix that know issue, just buy Nero 16 right!

My biggest peeve with Nero over the years is that they sometimes don't fix problems within a version. They might or might not fix some problems in subsequent versions. Omega Tester seems to keep a long list of things they've never fixed.
