I’m molesto

  • This is an English speaking forum, please write in English.

    Juan-

Which version of Nero are you using? Is it up to date as determined by the check for updates in the Nero ControlCenter.

What is the format of the original file? If you're simply doing an export operation, what are you selecting in the Export options.

Humberto- answer the first question for me.
    • Hi, sorry for writing in Spanish, in my case, I am using Nero Video 2020. It is up to date. Actually, I noticed the increase in video size yesterday, after performing the latest update but I don't know if the update was causing it. The problem I had was that yesterday, after the update, I removed 15 seconds of a mp4 4K video of 8 GB in size and when I tried to export it, using the same quality as the original, the video size went up to 32GB even if I tried to set it to "Target Size" and the rendered time section said it will take up to 6 hours... That never happened to me in Nero before.
      Thanks for your help.

  • recognize that the issue you report has been seen in the past and, if I remember correctly, the problem was with large files.

I have a 39 second, 280 MB file. When I go to the Export settings in v2020, the target size is 185 MB. If I cut 15 seconds off it, the target size is 71 MB. I exported it with Smart Encoding enabled and then with Smart Encoding disabled. The final file sizes were 111 MB and 75 MB, respectively. In v2015, the final file sizes were 84 MB and 77 MB respectively.

Of course, you're using a large file and I don't know what cutting a portion off it does to the encoding requirements.

One thing I noticed in v2020 is that the computer priority for exporting is set to "Very Low" as the default setting. In v2015, "Normal" is the default. I don't know if that's affecting the
    long encoding time you're seeing.

This is the file I'm messing with if you want to test my results-

I suggest that you go here-

    https://nerosupport.freshdesk.com/en/...

and submit a New Support Ticket to get Nero's take on your problem. If you do, please let me know what they say.

  • Hi

    I'm using Nero Video 2019

The original formta of the original file is MP4

The export options, are the same i've always used, i haven't changed them....

thi sweek, i tried to export a video 53 minutes long, and it took 9 hours to complete the exporting process. I cancelled the exporting procces, so I couldn't know the size of the video at the end

  • I exported the first one using AVC, 4:3, 720x in v2015. The exported file size was 568 MB but I didn't try to match the bit rate.

I'm exporting the second one using the same settings.

  • I always export using MPEG-4, 1920x1080

this is the same setting I used for all my files

  • The second file was 210 MB after export.

Thing with using 1920x is that your original video doesn't have that high of a resolution and it is encoded using AVC. That would increase the size of the final file somewhat and I would expect it to take much longer to export. I just changed the Diego file to export with your settings and the export time went up from 33 minutes to 11 hours. Note that this 12 year old system only has 4 GB RAM and doesn't have graphics cores on the CPU. When I used AVC, I had hardware acceleration. Since mpeg-4 doesn't have that option, that would account for part of the increased time. I'm not going to finish that export. I'll mess with it in v2019 this afternoon (if I don't go outside to do some work).

I can't explain what's going on. I was thinking that conversion of the 99:190 aspect ratio to 4:3 and the resolution change to 720x, was increasing the file sizes. However, that didn't happen on the second video. That's the kind of thing you might address with tech support.

By the way, did you ever try anything with the files I provided?

  • Go to my third response, which was 18 days ago to get the files and try to reproduce what I did in v2019 with a 4k file.

You said you didn't see the size increase until you downloaded files from that site.

I'm on a different computer now and am going to try the same thing in v2019 that I did in v2015.

  • I exported the Roberto file to AVC using 720x on this system. The final file size was 673 MB and took about 50 minutesto export. I then exported it using mpeg-4 and 1920x . The final file size was 2.37 GB and it took about 4.5 hours to export. Quite a change.

  • those are the two exported files

would you like me to do the same with the original files?????
    • Juan,

No, I have downloaded those files and have exported them from Nero 2019 Video in various formats. First, I used the Edit Vertical Video mode and exported the files at the minimum resolution available. Here's Roberto video exported in "Vertical" format.. The file size can be reduced using Nero Recode to lower the bitrate (quality).

I've tried Advanced Edit mode using 1920x1080 edit frames and exported to both 1920x1080 and 720x480 export resolutions. There were no significant differences in the two videos.

In other words, I cannot repeat your results. Are you able to repeat them?

Also, I'm curious about your use of MPEG-4 instead of AVC. The AVC version of MPEG-4 is widely used.
    • First, for the record, My knowledge is less than basic

I've never tried another mode than "create express movie"

I have just tried changing the format to AVC with Diego video, and as the exporting process started, it showed me it was going to last more than 3 hours to complete....

      I cancelled

  • Juan,

Is there a significant difference between the time required for MPEG-4 vs AVC (also MPEG-4, but a more recent version)?

Here's screenshots of time estimates from my laptop for MPEG-4, AVC without hardware acceleration, and AVC with hardware acceleration:

Slower speeds on your computer can be a slower CPU, other processes running, etc. Also, the time estimates are generally very high initially and then stabilize after a minute or two.

    • I've always used the same computer

      The same strings

      The same type of files....

Maybe running the cleanup can help with reducing time

But I'm not sure it will help with final size of the videos
    • Juan,
Yes, it won't change the output size. In addition, it will not affect the export file resolution of 720x576 vs 1920x1080. Finally, it will not affect the estimated encoding time.
