UNABLE TO BURN AUDIO FILE NERO 2017

I have recently upgraded to a new PC and Blu-ray writer. I have two of the same drive and have tried both, with the same results
I am unable to burn Audio files to a CD. I can burn the same files as UDF and also burn to DVD.
The system worked on the old PC with a standard writer. I have also tried re-burning the older files in the new drives without success.
As the problem is the same with both new drives and I can actually burn files, there appears to be some incompatibility with NERO 2017 and the Blu-ray Writer.
Error Messages:
“ Could not perform write”
“Device not available”
“Could not perform end of disc-at-once”
“Simulation failed at 1o0 (1,500 KB/s)”
Windows 10 64bit – system freezes approximately three quarters of the way through Simulation stage
I have latest versions of software and have tried burning at a lower speed
You assistance appreciated

  • Hi Phillip-

I don't like that "Device not Available" error.

When you write the UDF, is that to CD or DVD? Just trying to see if the problem is that you can't burn to a CD but you can burn to a DVD.

  • Phew! There's a plethora of errors. Trying to sort this one out is a bear.

Is your drive connected to a USB 3 connection? That's what it is specified for.

Can you read the drive model number? I'm interested in what character follows the XD05.

  • The problem may be that it's connected via a hub. Can you connect it directly to a USB port?

Also, you didn't say anything about the model number.

    Are you in Europe?

  • Managed to get the drive close enough to connect direct to the USB port - SUCCESS!!. I will now have to work out how to set this up permanently - as well as providing additional ports, the hub provided an extension

    Full Model Number: BDR-XD05TB

    Location: Australia.

  • Thanks for the model number.

I was looking at the Pioneer site this morning to see if you have the latest firmware. After a lot of screwing around, I finally found the proper one and you already have it.

The site also says that you can connect to a USB 2 port but you might have to use two USB 2 ports to get enough power for the drive.

Looks like we found the problem.

  • Hi,
I read that it might need extra power. So I'm using a powered USB3 Hub. Even using both leads it will not complete burning AUDIO to a CD.
Yet everything else works - including writing to Blu-Ray???
I have just had a read of the "small print" in the drive handbook ... "Connecting this unit through a USB Hub , or using unspecified cables may not guarantee proper operation". - This wasn't mentioned in the on-line data. - Pity the Drive cable wasn't about 15cm longer and I had more ports on the NUC.
    Thanks for your shelp

  • Any thoughts on why when using the AUDIO write mode there is a problem but when writing UDF it works OK?

  • I thought the problem was resolved.

    If it's not, tell me.

In that case, it would be best to try another burn and then provide the new log file so I can separate the effects of the connection problem from other errors. Another error you're getting is a media error. For that case, we recommend that you try another disc, a different batch of discs or a different brand of disc. However, this error might be an effect of the drive connection problem especially since you're able to write using the UDF.

Note that you can contact technical support about this issue.
