Video clips out of order

Have just installed platinum 2016. Want to put many video clips together to make a movie of travels. Not sure which program to open, used the video one but each time I add video clips to the program it doesnt keep them in order ie they all get intermingled and out of order, what am I doing wrong ? Look forward to a response with glee ! Russell

  • Hi Russell,
Nero Video is the right one to use.

You can select Make Express Movie, or Make advanced movie for example.

Example screen shot of using "Make Express Movie" ...

The problem is that they aren't kept in order when dropping them into the time line. You can reorder the clips, if there are a few, if you have many that's a problem.

Let's consider following scenario: If you need to make a "travel" movie with the length of 2 hours, perspective change each 5 to 10 seconds, let's say 10 seconds. then you will have 720 short clips of the length of 10 seconds.

Cutting the clips out of the "raw" material is already a show of strength, but ordering the clips is likely to get impossible, if they aren't ordered correctly...

  • For large numbers of clips, use the Arranging screen. That is accessed by clicking on the two grey upward arrows on the left side of the timeline.

When you import files to the media area, they will sorted in the order specified in the Sort selection order.

However, are you cutting the original video on the Timeline or from the Trim Window. Either way, once files are added to the timeline, they won't be rearranged.

  • Hello Wither, I accessed the Arranging screen by clicking on the two up arrows as you indicated but what then as I just get a blank screen. There is no way to bring anything into this screen--or is there ? What is this big screen for ? There are two big "editing" buttons on the left but nothing else-am I missing something ? I was using the express video format, is this correct?

  • You have to put the videos in the storyboard (timeline) first, as shown in this screenshot.

Then, when you go to the arranging screen, you will see this-

You can then drag and drop the files where you want them.

There are a number of other ways to do what you want. For instance-

When you first import your files, you can select individual files to be added to the timeline by clicking on Control and then clicking on each one in the order you want them to appear on the timeline. An X will appear in the corner of each one that's selected. Then just click on the first one and drag it to the timeline. All the others you selected will placed on the timeline.

    There are other ways.
