Video 12 How to edit Video with images and transitions

I cannot find a simple demo for the logic to make a film consisting clips, photos and transitions in Advanced Mode. Have tried to put the clip and photo on the same track. Does not work. Timeline stops between the clip and the photo. Put them on different track works with trial and error. Transitions have to be tested several times to get them working, as on which track to put them? Missing simple down to earth rules but cannot find them anywhere. The very basic introduction tutorial would help.
Thanks

  • It's the first time I've heard of these problems.

Have you gone to the Nero ControlCenter and run the check for updates?

Transitions are dragged to the junction between clips or clips and photos on the same video track.

It might be helpful if you provide a screenshot of the Advanced Editing window with your files on the timeline.

  • In order to analyze your problem properly, Nero Technical Support requires some additional information.

    1.
    Error messages as a screenshot.

Do you get any error messages? If so, what does the message tell you?
To enable us to analyze the problem, we need a screenshot, which will support us in finding a solution.

You will find detailed instructions on how to create a screenshot on our website:

    http://www.nero.com/eng/show-faq.html...

    2..
    The NeroSupport.cab log archive.

Click the following link to download the "GetSupportFiles.zip" file to your hard drive:

    http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...

Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.
    -> The "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe" window opens.
The tool may take several minutes.
You can track the single steps in the displayed window.

After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named "NeroSupport.cab" on your desktop.

Please send us this file as an e-mail attachment.

Additionally, we would like to point out some details of the "GetSupportFiles" tool.

The following information will be gathered:
    - All available log files of different Nero applications.
    - System information gathered by the Windows tool "MSInfo32".
    - Information on the installed DirectX version. For this, the Windows application "DXDiag" will be used.
    - The "SchedLgU.txt" log file. This file contains information on currently scheduled tasks (e.g. the JobScheduler in Nero BackItUp).
    - Extracts from the registry:
    a. Information on the settings with which Nero applications run.
    b. Information on how the CD/DVD drives have been installed.

    Please note:
If the "GetSupportFiles" tool crashes then simply start it again.
When the tool is started again it will automatically recognize the particular program that caused the crash. As a result, that diagnostics program will be omitted.

Please send this file as an e-mail attachment to techsupport@nero.com.
Enter "Nero Forum" into the subject field and refer to this posting.

I really do not figure it. What did I do wrong? Now that I got the info that all, the clips, photos and transitions could be on the same video track, I dropped all of them into #1 and it worked just perfectly. In the previous situation there was no error messages.
Now that I have the "line" open, I would like to ask couple of more Q:
    1. As the entire video can be constructed in one track, what is the intended use of additional tracks?
    2. I can export or save my final version of the project in .nvc format. After that I have to convert it into MPEG. Is this normal procedure?
    3. I have a need to create a number of small clips, which I so far have done as an individual project is there an other way to do that, as it requires several steps ie. opening a new project, editing, saving as .nvc, converting into MPEG.
    thank You

    1. In some cases, people want one video to overlap another. In that case, one would put the video that overlaps on track 2 and position it as desired to overlap the video on track 1. Or, perhaps you want an effect to overlay a video. You would put that on track 2. The object on the highest track always over-rides any object on a lower track.
    2. If you just want to burn your project, just continue on by clicking on Next and doing things like adding chapters or making a menu and then burn. You don't have to change it to mpeg or another format. When you save as .nvc, you can always open it again and edit and burn. Note that a .nvc contains links to files so, if you move files from their original location on your hard drive, then you'll have to find them again when you open the project. The allowance to browse for files that have been moved started, I believe, with v11.
    3. As I noted, you don't have to convert your project to a video format. However, if you create numerous .nvc and want to join them into one project, then you need to export each one to a video format because you can only open one .nvc at a time.

    Is this a good answer?
