Wave Editor 2.0 stops reading at 01:16:40 of file

Thank you, first off, for the assistance.
For as long as I have used NWE, I do not recall ever experiencing this problem.
To where files (.mp3, .mp4) over 86 minutes in length are only read up to 01:16:40:775.

What would limit NWE editor in this manner?

OS: winXPsp3
CPU: intel dual core 2.4GHz
ram: 3.5GB (500mb used)
NWE Temp folder on partition with >100GB available space.
soundcard: SoundMAX Integrated Digital High Definition Audio
directX: 9.0c

Thank you for your assistance.

  • Hi C.,

How was the file created? Has the file been recorded using WaveEditor in the first place?
If you try to playback the file using a player such as Showtime or Nero MediaHome, can the file be reproduced completely?
Wave Editor has a limit when recording audio files. You are able to record 2GB of data. The length of your recording depends on the quality setting and codec you are using.
Also, you are using a very old version of Nero WaveEditor. have you tried with the actual version?
    Best regards!

  • Thank you kindly for your response:

    1. the file was created via (either) download helper firefox add-on to pull youtube video in mp4 format (previously did not have issue in this wise)
1a. used Audio Extractor to pull 192kbps .mp3 from .mp4 file.

in both cases, previous uses (albeit on different systems/installs) did not pose problems; now they do.
So I do assert there are many variables, including a subtle configuration within the OS.

I do not use Showtime nor Mediahome, however, both winamp, Media Player Classic - Home Cinema, and NWE all show the same duration of resultant file.

the use of PowerPack Lame MP3 encoder at VBR in 5/5 or 9/9 have no bearing.
all that is displayed is 01:16:40:7xx
the original files are of an 8 hour duration, it is the editing I wanted to accomplish (increasing volume, fading the beginning/end, etc)
only after NWE finishes creating peak reading, only 01:16:40:7xx is displayed....

this version of both Nero and NWE serve me in all the ways I need, and it is just this day I have noticed the oddity,...

any additional insight would be greatly appreciated...

  • This problem was noted for WE 5 in this thread-

    http://forum.my.nero.com/index.php?sh...

In that thread I surmised that the problem would be fixed in Nero v12. Obviously, that's not going to fix anything in WE 2.

As NeroUser mentioned, you could download the Nero 2014 trial and test it.

I'm assuming your file doesn't exceed the 2 Gb limit mentioned.

If you have nero vision express, you could import the video and then Export the audio to file and then try that in WaveEditor.
