Which export format?

Ola!
In which video format to export?
I would like to export the video project made on a DVD, but I have not understood if I have to export both, the video and the audio, or it is sufficient to export the video that also contains the audio.
I would like to know in which format to export: the AVC, MPG1-2-3-4, AVI .... ???
I have a DVD player and PS3 to watch DVDs, and a Samsung TV 32 " 6 Series TV which should be HD.
What do you suggest?
Once the project has been exported to files, how to burn it correctly?
Thanks!

    Hi NeroBLK-

A standalone DVD player will only play DVD-Video. As a result, you would burn using the DVD-Video option from Nero Video. The format is mpeg-2. It won't matter what the format of the original file is.

From what I can gather, PS3 will play blu-ray discs. In that case, you could burn your videos to DVD, as AVCHD-DVD, or a Blu-ray disc, as Blu-ray. Just to reiterate, neither of those type discs will play in your standalone DVD player.

I don't know what you have on your DVD so it's hard to answer your other questions. Is it a data disc that just contains various video files? Please explain or provide a screenshot of the DVD contents. I don't know if it's a translation issue but, when you say "export," do you mean move\copy the files from the disc for burning to a DVD-Video? You can do that using Windows commands or do an import operation from Nero Video. We can get into the details later after you answer my questions.

In general, if a video project contains a video with it's own audio plus a separate music or narration track, you would want both the video file and the other track.

I finished the video project, I would like to export it to DVD. As I understand, I must first export it to a file and then burn it to a DVD and I would need to know which settings to use, being I ignorant on the subject. The project contains photos and videos with music and the videos contains also speech

We're having a terminology problem. You would burn your project to DVD, not export it.

If you created your project in one of the "Make......" options in Nero Video, you would then click on Next. It would ask you what you wanted to do. You would select "create a disc" and then, DVD-Video. That would put you in the Content screen where you can add chapters, if you wish. You would then click on Next. That will take you to the Menu Editing screen where you can create a menu, accept the default menu, or choose to not use a menu. Clicking on Next twice, would take you to the Burning screen where you would choose to burn it to disc and specify the drive. Burn it. Done.

  • I tried to proceed with create disc-DVD video but a message window appeared, telling me that the movie must undergo modification and that could compromise something ... What can happen if I proceed? Or what can I do to prevent this message from appearing?
Also I am trying to export the created video to a file and the screen below appears ... I have set AVC but maybe Mp4 is better? What other setting changes should I make?
    Thanks!

Please post an english translation of the above error message.

I would also like to see an english translation of the message you get when you try to create a disc. Sometimes you might get a message that the video is more PAL and you're using NTSC and wants to know what you want to do.. There are others.

  • The error message is:

The recording format setting does not match the settings of the previously edited movie. although an automatic update is possible, keep in mind that the timeline will be recalculated. The operation cannot be canceled. Update the movie to the new settings?

the above message is what appears to me when I create DVD disc (Create Disc - DVD - DVD-Video)

That's fine. Go ahead. You will get that message if you change one of the default settings or choose different settings from the last project. You will get that if your last project was a different type than the current one.

  • How do I know what version the project was? And what exactely changes?
Isn't that ruining video by misaligning music from video and speech?
Or is it not that the quality of the video worsens me?

    Thanks!

I never mentioned anything about a version.

Did you create your project in Make Advanced Movie?

If so, open it and click on Options, Movie options. What is selected there? If it is anything other than TV Standard or TV Widescreen, when you specify a DVD-Video, you're changing from whatever is selected there to the resolution of DVD-Video and you'll get that message.

The resolution of DVD-Video is 720x.... if your original material has a resolution higher than that, you will probably notice a difference in quality. If desired, you can use a 2-pass setting in the Recording Format Options in an attempt to improve the quality somewhat. That will increase the transcoding time.

You shouldn't get any sync problems between music and video unless the original media has dropped frames (which you can't see during playback of the original).

  • OK thank you very much!
In Movie Options there are the following settings: Full HD HDTV 16: 9, 25 PAL, Stereo Audio.
So if I proceed to the conversion will only deteriorate the quality and the synchronization between audio and video and speech will not change?
Is it more correct to set the movie options in Wide Screen having Samsung 32 "6 series?
    Thanks for your help!

Except for the possibility of dropped frames, there should be no sync issues. If there are, you would have to recode the original video with Recode or another similar app.

If most or all of your video is 16:9, I'd say pick that. If there's any 4:3 mixed in, it will simply add black frames to maintain that.
