Why won't my Nero 11 burnt DVD play on my Toshiba DVD player?

  • I'm assuming you burned a video file. To burn a DVD that will play on all standalone players, you need to create a DVD-Video in Nero Video. If you burn a video file in Nero Express or Burning rom, all you will get is a data disc which won't automatically play on a standalone player because those apps can't create the DVD-Video structure.

  • Thank you for taking an interest in my problem. I tried the Nero DVD-Video option and all I got was this:
One or more files could not be added to a compilation.

The following files may not reside in the VIDEO_TS directory of a DVD-Video compilation. Only compliant DVD-Video files
    VIDEO_TS.IFO,
    VIDEO_TS.VOB,
    VIDEO_TS.BUP,
    VTS_nn_0.IFO,
    VTS_nn_0.VOB,
    VTS_nn_0.BUP and
    VTS_nn_m.VOB
can be added to the VIDEO_TS folder. Please add files from a completed DVD-Video title or use an authoring software like Nero Vision to create DVD-Video files from standard video files such as *.avi and *.mpg.

I guess I don't have the right Nero program

  • Apparently you're using DVD-Video in either Nero Express or Burning Rom. As I explained above, in effect,is that adding a video file to this option in either of those apps will only burn a data disc. In fact, you would have to select data in the compilation window to add a video file. To use this option in either of those apps, you have to import a Video_TS folder. The only app that can create this is Nero Video.

Depending on on how much editing you want to do with your original video, there are a couple of options in Nero Video.

First, if your editing needs are minor, you should select DVD, DVD-Video under Create and Export when you open Nero Video. You can then import your files there. If you want to edit, you can click on a video and then select Edit. If you don't need to edit, you can continue on to create a menu and then either burn to disc or burn to hard drive. If you burn to hard drive, it will create the Video_TS folder on your hard drive. You can then burn that in either NE or BR.

If you want to do extensive editing such as adding transitions and effects and/or cutting, I recommend that you start out in Make Advanced Movie. You can select the DVD, DVD-Video option after you leave the editing screen. You can also use Make Express Movie if you want to add transitions and/or effects.

Is that clear or do you need additional help?
