Why Nero Burning Rom cannot write on a Verbatim BD-RE DL disc?

I tried to write a Blu-Ray image on a Verbatim BD-RE DL 2x 50GB disc. First I used Nero Burning Rom 12. The writing session stopped every time before beginning without any understandable error. I tried to upgrade to 2014 but the result was the same. I updated the firmware of my burner that is LG BH16NS40 (BDXL compatible) but there was no improvement. I also tried to write data on that disc as UDF disc and was not possible... I use NERO for more than 15 years and I always had confidence in this Burner Software. But now it seem that is not reliable anymore.
The hardware burner is ok, the disc also. And the proof is that ImgBurn was able to write a 47GB image on the same disc with the same burner. So Nero cannot do it. Why? The disc code is Verbatim#43759 1008-40

  • Have you tried a burn at 1x?

If this doesn't work, I'd like you to post your problem at-
    http://forum.my.nero.com/index.php?sh...

Attach the nerohistory.log by first renaming it to nerohistory.log.txt. You can find it here-

    C:\Users\"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 2014\Nero Burning ROM

I'd have you post the log here but this forum only let's one add an image.

  • Hi Wither,

I just tried to do it but it seem that there is no 1x speed available. The only speed available is 2X. BTW, the disc is 2x and ImgBurn burned it fine at 2x...
I can't imagine why Nero can't do it...
I will attach the log to the address you sugested.

    Thanks.

  • Please send the log files of the failed burning process to our technical support team: techsupport@nero.com

Click the following link to download the "GetSupportFiles.zip" file to your hard drive:
    http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...
Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.
    -> The "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe" window opens.
The tool may take several minutes.
You can track the single steps in the displayed window.
After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named "NeroSupport.cab" on your desktop.
Send this file back to us.

Please send us this file as an e-mail attachment.

Its a problem of the medium - or the writer

  • Seems like Samsung has released two firmware updates for this recorder drive already:
    Samsung SE-506CB

    Your firmware version is TS00

The latest firmware version was released three days ago, Feb 24th:
    http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmw...

Personally, I strongly recommend to also contact Samsung support in order to get details about the firmware update.(also ask for tested and recommended media for your drive)

As Jens mentioned above, the error code clearly refers to a recorder + media conflict.

  • The thing that bothers me is that it says the maximum recording velocity is 1x but it's burning at 2x.

    Would you try something-

Open Nero Express and click on data disc. Select Blu-ray disc. Add a file. In the next screen, click on the arrow on the left hand side and select Writing Speed. Is 1x shown? If so, select it and burn. Does that work?

  • Hello it is only 2x allowed and combo box is disabled. I cannot select 1x speed.

  • So, if you click on the little down arrow on the right hand side of the Writing Speed box, 2x is the only option?
