Why wont my audio cd play on a non computer cd player?

I would like to make an audio cd that can play on a hi fi but it tries to read the disc and says no disc inserted. Can Nero make me an audio disc or not?

Thankyou for help

  • With Nero , you can burn standard Audio CD which can be played back on CD and DVD players. Please make sure you made standard Audio CD and your player supports it. To make audio CD,you can use Nero burning ROM or Nero Express included in Nero suite.

Find more information at our Support Knowledge Base:
    http://www.nero.com/enu/support/index...

Addtionally ,Nero Express can also Create Jukebox Disc, but most of the player will not read such disc.

  • Hi Michelle,

Can you playback the CD on your computer? Does your computer recognize the disc?

    Best regards,

  • I was concerned about the disc type because drives from before about 2004 wouldn't recognize a CD+R. Looks like your good there. Please answer NeroUser's questions.

  • I could be totally wrong but, I think the problem is copy protection. It says the whole burn is going to be 3092 but a 43 minute album would certainly take up more space than that.

Open the disc in Windows Explorer. Would you provide a screen shot of its contents?

  • Michelle,

I've been fooling with some audio files in another topic. When I noticed your thread, I burned a CD and played it on the DVD/CD player connected to my TV. I copied to a Nero .nrg image using Nero BurningROM that you can download and burn to a CD if you would like. I will leave it in the cloud for a while!

    • This is correct, that the track is displayed an track01.cda.
As you said before the CD plays on the computer, so it has been burnt correctly.

If the Audio CD is created without any error message from our software and as long as you are able to play it on your computer using your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, Nero has functioned correctly. If it only fails or has trouble when you try to play it in your car or home stereo, you more than likely have a compatibility issue between the media and your player.

Try the following steps to resolve your issue:

      1) Try a lower write speed.

      2) Try another brand of recordables:

      3) Upgrade the firmware of your recorder drive.

      4) Use only CD-R media. Many home and car stereos will not work with CD-RW media.

      5) In some cases Audio CDs are not playable if they are burned in TAO ( ́Track-At-Once ́) mode. Please burn in DAO ( ́Disc-At-Once ́) mode.

  • As you can see, it doesn't list any tracks and the length is only 41 seconds. The only that burned is the CD text. I'm still thinking the album is copy protected.

Try a burn with some audio files already on your system. I think Windows Media Player has a bunch of sample audio files. They might be in .wmv format. You could convert them to mp3 in WaveEditor.

    • I'm in Pittsburgh. We have a recycling pick-up but CDs, DVDs, etc. are not allowed. We also have a recycling center that takes electronics, etc. - no CDs, DVDs, etc. So, I have hundreds of them that I don't know what to do with. I do know that it's "forbidden" to throw them in the trash!

They probably should go to the same place that takes used batteries, but I can't figure out where that is either.

I have a recycling plan where I live and I just toss used CD's in that.

  • right heres an update. I went to the machine where I wanna play the sound (the other side of town & it played...so it doesn't play on my car cd player or my hifi at home but this big machine it works on so problem solved except for the mystery of why it doesn't work on the home machines ie its just a mystery now rather than a blockage.
Thanks all you guys for your help

  • btw Im in the uk for recycling bummer about the Pittsburgh situation. I bet theres a place you can post them to if your keen.
I just imagine a it going straight from the shop to the soil without even being used for anything important then sitting there for 1000years getting chopped up cutting animals with sharp bits etc
