Will not update Nero Burning Core

I have Nero Platinum 2018 and it keeps asking me to Update the "Nero Burning Core" which is 34.02MB. I'm running Windows 10 and when you hit the update button, it downloads, then updates, then says Nero Burning Core has an update. In other words, it will not update so I just get constant reminders. Any theories?

  • Hi Rick-

When it shows the update, are you checking the box for it? I noticed when I did the update that the box for that update wasn't checked and I must have checked it because the update doesn't show up when I run the check for updates.

If you have checked the box, then I suggest that you go to Nero.com, downloads and download/run the latest installation file which will provide all the updates. You can try installing it without uninstalling first.

  • Yeah the box was checked, it downloads, installs then says updates found "Nero Burning Core". Nero.com downloads, will try that.
    ______________

Ok update, downloaded as per your suggestion and it ending up being the same version number. After install, checked for updates and Nero Burning Core was there again. Checked the box, downloaded, updated and said Nero Burning Core was available for update. Uninstalled the whole program, reinstalled, it and got the same update result. Nero Burning Core still wont update.

  • Rick,

See topic NERO BURNING CORE NOT DOWNLOADING. You are not alone. You may want to contact Nero directly:

    Installation Issues

Help with installation issues can be obtained directly from Nero by using the email contact form at Technical Support via e-mail. This requires a valid product serial number which has the form XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (8 groups of 4 characters/digits separated by dashes. Note: The serial number will not have the letter 'O'. Since this is a public forum, DO NOT post your serial number. If your serial number is not accepted, use the contact form at Nero Customer Service.
Or, choose Tech Support or Customer Service

  • Have same problem. What version of MS Visual C++ Redistributable does Nero use for the Burning Core, may be tied to side by side config error
    • view 3 more comments
    • Windows 10 with all updates.2018 Burning ROM will not open and update wont install. Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 has been encompassed by 2017. It is the only feature of 2018 Nero that does not work and the errors state side by side config error. Followed all steps to correct except reinstall Visual C++ Redist as it is no longer a seperate entiy and the problem continues in Nero 2018
    • As noted in Rick' update below, the side by side error is a conflict with the C++ redistributables and Nero. Tech support suggested uninstalling all of them but I don't know why they specifically mentioned C++ 2010 and 2015. I would make a note of all installed versions and uninstall them. Then, reinstall all of them using downloads from Microsoft. Only use the (x86) versions. It might be beneficial to install them one by one to see if there's one causing the problem or if the problem goes away. Of course, you could just get the refund and don't mess with it.

  • Update - After many to and fro's, try this, do thats' from Nero Techs the problem still exists and they have no clue what the problem is. Considering the cost of the product versus trying to fix this, its not cost effective. Good luck to those who which to keep trying. Will NOT be getting Nero 2019.
    • Thanks for the update. Do you mind sharing what they asked you to do?

Hi, I replied on [2018-05-04] As mentioned below.

All done as you suggested. Deletions and re-downloads plus a large windows 10 update.

Nero Burning Core will still not update.

I think now this has gone beyond what paid for in a program. Thanks for your efforts anyway.

      Dear Mr. Carter,

Thank you for contacting Nero Support.

In most cases it's .NET framework causing issues. This can be easily fixed by re-installing latest .NET framework from :
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...

Please uninstall all versions of C++ redistributables preferably the C++ redist 2010 and 2015 x86 versions.
After uninstalling, download and install those versions again from the following websites:

      C++ 2010 x86 version:
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...

      C++ 2015 x86 version:
      https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...

After that try installing your Nero again as an administrator and with your antivirus disabled.

I hope you find this information useful, please do not hesitate to contact us for anything further you may require.

      Kind regards,

      Dear Mr. Carter,

Thank you for contacting Nero Support.

If the problem still persists, we require some additional information. Please send us the following file:

      The Log archive NeroSupport.cab

Please click the following link in order to download the file ""GetSupportFiles.zip"" to your hard drive:

      http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...

Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking on the EXE-file.
-> The window ""C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe"" will open.
The execution of the tool may take some minutes.
You can track the single steps in the displayed window.

After the tool has run successfully, you will find a file called ""NeroSupport.cab"" on your desktop.

Please send us this file as an email attachment.

Additionally, we would like to point out some particularities of the tool ""GetSupportFiles"":

The following information will be gathered:
      - All available log files of different Nero applications
      - System information gathered by the Windows tool ""MSInfo32""
      - Information on the installed DirectX version. For this, the Windows application ""DXDiag"" will be used.
      - The ""SchedLgU.txt"" log file. This file contains information on currently scheduled tasks (e.g. the JobScheduler in Nero BackItUp)
      - Extracts from the registry:
      a. Information on the settings with which Nero applications run.
      b. Information on how the CD/DVD drives have been installed.

      Please note:
In case the tool ""GetSupportFiles"" crashes, please start it again. The tool “GetSupportFiles” will automatically recognize which diagnostics program caused the crash. Once the tool is restarted, it will omit the program which has caused the crash.

Nero suggests that you check the file created by "GetSupportFiles" and remove private information that you don’t want to transfer to Nero. We are looking forward to hearing from you.

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

      Best regards,

      Jasper

      Hi Norman

      Sadly neither option worked.

First option just stated Nero burning core was there for an update. Tried the update and the message was still there when finsihed.

Second option, listed 5 updates after clearing the repository folder. All updated except for Nero Burning Core which stated it was still there for update.

Thank you for contacting Nero Support.

In this case please deactivate your firewall and antivirus software. Additionally, please make sure that there is no Windows-Update in the background. If you are still having the issue, please open your Windows-Explorer-filemanager and copy the following path in its adressbar:

      C:\ProgramData\Nero\Agent\repository
