I installed Windows 10 on my Windows 8.1 PC and it's OK. However I am now unable to play Blue-Ray Discs.
When I installed Win 10, Asus (PC manufacturer) informed me I needed an update for my AsusDVD player (which plays Blu-Ray discs), which I installed.
This updated did not work and now my Blu-Ray disc won't work. When I contacted technical support Asus told me they know AsusDVD doesn't work on Win 10 and I need to rewind to Win 8.1, or buy a new program for my Blu-Ray player and if I remained with Win 10, to remove the AsusDVD program from my PC. I was not happy about this but thought I would simply remove their obnoxious program and play my Blue-Ray discs through Nero Platinum 15.
Unfortunately now Nero's Blu-Ray program does not work, it tells me it can't read the files. So I reinstalled Nero with no success. I had watched Blu-Ray discs on Nero before I installed Win 10. It appears to me that I am missing some codecs or a software program that had been installed on AsusDVD?
Can anybody advise?

One person got around blu-ray player issue by uninstalling/reinstalling but not doing all the Nero updates. I don't think that's acceptable but he's happy.
Do you have a AMD graphics card? -
-
Yes I have an AMD graphics card. I have checked and it's drivers are up to date. But the Blu-Ray player is not playing. There is some part of the program missing, since having the AsusDVD issue.
Although the program is called AsusDVD, I believe it is made by CyberLink and is probably a version of PowerDVD. There appears to be a conspiracy where it is in the interest of Asus or CyberLink to create a problem that they can solve by crossing their prams with silver. I would like to find a solution so that their money grabbing scheme can be thwarted.-
I know a software named UFUSoft Blu-ray Player ,it works very well on my windows 10 pc.Here is the link:

Ian,
The Catalyst 15.7.1 graphics driver has proven incompatible with Nero 11, 12, 2014, and 2015. Nero posted a workaround. Without the workaround, Nero Video crashes upon startup and Nero Recode crashes upon importing videos.
If you're getting the "Cannot play this media" error with the Blu-ray Player, you are not alone:
blue ray playback broblem
läuft nero 12 burning mit Win 10?
nero bluray player not seeing my LG bluray disk player
cannot play blu-ray discs in Nero 15 platinum
Why does my Blu Ray player not play Blu Ray discs?
Nero 2015 blu ray player not working in Windows 10
Windows 10Pro und Nero 15 Premium spielt keine Blu-Ray ab.
Nero Blu-ray player is not working "cannot play this media" (Windows 10)
Are you able to start Nero 2015 Video? Import video files using Recode? -
-
Yes Nero is playing fine except for the Blu-Ray problem and there was no issue with Blu-Ray until I installed Win 10.
-
Well, that's interesting. Do you have the Catalyst 15.7.1 driver installed?
You can play the Blu-ray content in MediaHome by navigating down to the STREAM folder and opening the appropriate 0000?.m2ts file. -

For free tool, you can try VLC, DAPlayer. I have this installed and it's working fine. But they may not have the looks or the same extent of settings/controls as the likes of paid solutions such as UFUSoft Blu ray player i used now, which is a good choice for playing the latest blu-ray disc movie on Windows 10 pc, you can have try. http://www.blu-rayvideoplayer.com/win...

I have an AMD Radeon R9 M275X.
I checked Nero Media Center and noticed 4K video files were not playing smoothly but they were from Windows Folders.
That was it, I wound Windows back to 8.1 and used a systems image to restore my PC to 5th August 2015. Now 4K files in Nero Media Center play very well. But AsusDVD won't play at all and when I play Blu-Ray in Nero, I receive a critical internal error message 1:0x03,2:080400001. But if I try to play the disc three times, I get the Blu-Ray Disc playing the intro but it won't play the film. DVDs play fine.
Windows and Nero are up to date. -

The workaround for people with AMD cards posted by Nero for a number of problems with Nero in Windows 10 is-
"Dear all, we found a new workaround that will allow you to use the latest driver package 15.7.1 (display driver 15.20.xxxxxx). However, before applying this workaround, please note that AMD App Acceleration (Hardware accelerated H.264/AVC encoding) won't be available afterwards.
To apply the workaround please go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\ and rename the file ‘atimpenc.dll’ to something else e.g. ‘atimpenc.BAC’."
In addition, some people have been able to fix the problem by reverting to the Catalyst 14.12 driver. -

Hi,
Has any solution to this problem been found? I just tried playing a load of my blu rays which used to work (before installing Windows 10) and they all get the same message. My drivers are as follows:
My Display Adapters lists - AMD Radeon R9 200 Series. Driver Date: 03/08/2015. Driver version: 15.200.1062.1004 -

I am still having the same problem. I may be wrong but I think Microsoft has a new Security Program installed on Win 10, to stop pirated games being played. This may be what is stopping all my Blu-ray programs from working (AsusDVD and Nero). When you role back as I did, from Win 10 to Win 8.1, that new Security System comes with it. The only way to get these programs to work again, according to Asus, is to role the system back to its factory settings.
No thanks! -

I have been in contact with Asus Tech Support in regards to this issue and they tell me the only solution is to wind back the PC to its Factory Settings. Nero must now be well aware of all the issues surrounding Windows 10 and all of the problem this system causes. I have spent a lot of effort trying to resolve this issue and have now resigned myself to the fact that I have to look for other solutions to this problem. I don't blame Asus or Nero. I will let you guess who I consider to be responsible and it starts with an M.

Someone else was getting that funky numeric error message but I don't remember if it was related to blu-ray playback. I still think it's worth asking Nero tech support about it.

Windows 10 doesn't like nero it seems but probably a little later an update will be done for this to be fixed hopefully. Until then...this seems to be working to play the blu rays.

Thank you for the idea of using a temporary Blu-ray player while the Nero programmers are working on a fix. I rolled back to Windows 8.1 because of the mess Windows 10 made to many of my programs. I have just found a free program called Leawo Blu-ray and it works fine on my system. You have to use the arrows on your keyboard to control it but it plays the discs. Whether it works on Windows 10 or not, I don't know. Anybody with Windows 10 willing to try it?

I ́m suffering from the same problem.,
Today I installed Nero Platinum 2016 hoping that the Blu-Ray problem would be fixed.
But unfortunately the error still exists.
I payed enough enough money for Nero 2015 and now the 2016 (Platinum) and the Blu-Ray player doesn ́t work.
If this error is not fixed in short term it will be the last product I bought from Nero.
Are there any news on this topic?- view 2 more comments

I think the blu-ray player is not included anymore in Nero platinum 2016. You probably still have it because you own Nero 2015. So when you upgraded to 2016, the existing blu-ray player wasn't touch and you sill have the same one than you had before the upgrade.

I can definitely say the Blu-ray player isn't included in v2016. I've know that for three or four months. If an older Nero Platinum version is installed, the blu-ray player will be available.

I had this issue with Nero platinum 2014. No Bluray playback. Also, Nero Video, no video playback, only audio. Everthing was working fine on Windows 7, same hardware.
I found the issue. It was related to the graphics drivers. I have a Intel core i7 second gen with Intel integrated graphics accelerator 2000/3000 (sandyBridge).
This is the chart that shows windows 10 support on Intel accelerators.
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics...
On this chart, for the sandyBridge, windows 10 support is "No". Windows 10 was working fine with that accelerator, but the generic driver was in "Compatibility mode".
I had on hand a nvidia GTX 560. I installed in on my PC. Problem solved. Bluray playback started working again. Also, Nero Video playback is working fine too.
So, if you get this issue, check your hardware acceleretor for windows 10 compatibility issues.-
Thank you very much for the information but I use an AMD HD7800 with the newesr driver.
So I can ́t try your solution. -
