Windows 10 Nero cover design using existing ncd file to inherit font size color types

In the old Win XP version I could open an existing NCD file in the cover design window and open the NRA burning ROM window and press the cover designer icon to jump back to the cover design window and approve that I want the new Burning ROM data on the opened old
Cover Design to inherit all the Font size ,colour and types from the old existing cover design to my new cover design

  • Hello Markku-

I'm confused. You have Cover Designer open with an old .ncd displayed. What is the new Cover Design?

  • I have 30 nice old covers (ncd files) and it takes ages to set the Font sizes .colours
    and types again from scratch.
On the old versions of Win XP You could open an old cover and use its Font settings for the new cover.
Lets say You have a completely new Playlist to burn. You can drag the WinAmp
Playlist m3u-file from the File Explorer window to the NERO ROM burning window.
(WinAmp understands both Win XP m3u and Win 10 m3u8 Playlistfiles ,
but NERO only old m3u Playlists)
Then You open an old NERO NCD-file Cover Design that has the wanted Font colors sizes and types.
In the Old Win XP NERO when You hit the Cover Design icon in the NERO Burning ROM window the NERO Coverdesign window pops up with the wanted old design.
Then You just accept that the old SongTITLE list is replaced with the NEW SongTITLElist and Voila' You got the new COVER with the new SongTITLElist and the old FONT DESIGN.
In the NEW Win 10 NERO when You hit the Cover Design icon in the NERO Burning ROM window it opens up an EMPTY Cover Design Window, Even if You had the OLD NERO Cover Design window with the DESIRED FONT open in the background.
THe FONT design INHERITANGE was one of the BEST features in the old Win XP NERO.
It would be polite to have atleast the possibility to save own Cover Design templates

  • It could be a Win 10 issue. I had tried this before I responded with v2015 and CoverDesigner in Vista. I had tried it with v2018 and CoverDesigner v18 in Win 7. I had no problems. I did notice you're using CoverDesigner 2017 but it shouldn't make any difference.

When you go to CoverDesigner from Burning Rom, do you get the message that you need to select either the document or click on the background as shown below?

Which version of Nero are you using?

  • Thanks for looking into this matter.
No I dont get this "import data" pop-upp at all in Win 10 only in Win XP.
I only get the EMPTY Cover Design Window in Win 10 where I have to design the elements from SCRATCH. It is probably a Windows 10 feature as You suspect.

(I dont understand what is the FIRST FREE DISC of imported file's type ??
in the POP-UPP . Maybe this is a machine translation error ???)

What about the Win 10 WinAmp problem that NERO does not recocnize the
    new PLAYLIST FORMAT m3u8 ?

  • You didn't say which version of Nero you're using. Please do.

I'm not sure about the second comment either. When you go to CoverDesigner from Burning Rom, is it opening a new instance of CoverDesigner? If not, try selecting different document types at the bottom of the screen. You might also download CoverDesigner v18.

Burning Rom can save a playlist in m3u8 format if you try to save tracks from a disc. You can also import a m3u8 to create an audio CD. This is in v2015. I don't have my system with v2016 and later installed fired up but, typically, Burning Rom and Nero Express don't change much from version to version.
